Loving the poor requires the heart of the Lord.

Loving the poor requires the heart of the Lord.

In order to attain the heart of God I believe we need to have some training because we're not incline to love in the first place.

I’m always curious about the food laws that God wants the Israelite to obey in the Old Testament. I believe there must be something deeper than that.

Examples of food laws
---------------------
Genesis 9:3-4
4 you must never eat any meat that still has the lifeblood in it.

Deuteronomy 14:21
“You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.

I believe it is not so much of the food that we eat that makes us unclean, but the words that come out from our heart that makes us unclean.

From the laws I have learnt that our God is a compassionate God, full of mercy and Love.

He is making every effort He can to prevent our heart from being accustom to cruelty.

I think to enjoy the taste of blood in meat probably is also not good for the soul. Just like playing violent games, indulging in immoral act is not good for the heart.

How can one have a heart to Love people without first having a heart that is right with God?

How can one present ourselves in prayer to God without first confessing our sin to one another.

What I'm saying is that our heart needs training inorder to prevent it from hardening so that we can be ready to do God's work.

This bring me to the notion that in order to prevent our heart from hardening, I believe we have to consistently break it until it is tender.

I like one of the verse quoted by Mother Theresa which says “And If you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.”

By always having the poor with you is an opportunity to exercise compassion and mercy through serving them.

Compassion and mercy is good for the heart. A heart filled with compassion is pure. And a pure in heart can see God.

As you imitate the Lord in the ways he Loves the poor, you will understands the heart of a Loving God and hence acquired the heart of God growing in every way more and more like Him.

Let’s strive to acquire the heart of God by giving more to the poor.
