Don't Expect a Perfect Repentance

Don't Expect a Perfect Repentance
=========================

When a person come to Christ, we can't expect them to have a full blown mature repentance. They will be understanding something of their sin.

They will be broken of their sin to a certain degree. But even after they are save, they are going to grow in repentance. Their repentance is going to become deeper.

Those characteristic is gonna manifesting themself in a greater way. So we shouldn't be telling convert that they must have this exquisite perfect bibical repentance in their life in order to have repenctance unto salvation. Because you don't even have that. You are growing in repentance.

Is the same way with faith. Their faith isn't going to match this pristine bibical picture of what faith is. They won't have this exceedingly deep faith because I even growing in that after 26 years of following Christ.

So we don't wanna make it too hard for people to come into the kingdom. We go through repentance and we go through the characteristic and we help them see. Are there the seed of genuine repentance. Are there the bud the characteristic of genuine repentance. Are you believeing as a child in Christ. Have you thrown yourself upon Him?

And I think a lot of these people are struggling because they actually believe they have to have this perfect manifestation of these two things to be saved. And that's not true.

I have so many people who come to me and they doubt the assurance of their salvation because in their scrutiny of their own repentance. They are expecting. They are almost demanding that the saving repentance be the repentance of the mature believer of thirty years. They scrutinize every aspect of their lifes that if they don't look like the puritian they say I can't be converted.
What you need to understand is repentance.

Repentance in it's initial seed is simply a changing of the mind! God is all I need Him!
Repentance can merely means I am falling and I can't save myself!

It is turning from self-worth! It is turning from ability! And giving up.. I can't! I collapse! I'm gone! Save me! I'm lost... I'm falling but He can! Look onto Jesus! Just look unto Jesus!

Repentance is not a transaction for salvation. It is the fruit of a regenerated man.

What do you trust my brethern! Your act of repentance in the hope of securing salvation or in Him who alone can saves you?

Do not ask people are you repenting? Ask them are you looking unto Jesus? Repentance will come along!
How is it possible for one who is constantly looking unto Christ continue sinning?

It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.

~Hebrews 6:1-6
New Living Translation (NLT)

6 So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds[a] and placing our faith in God. 2 You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.

4 For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come— 6 and who then turn away from God.

It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.
