Thoughts of eternity

Hebrews 11:3
New Living Translation (NLT)

3 By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

Time
=====

Time is a precious procession.
But we only has a handful of it.

It is the fuels behind every engine.
The fuels that pushes the engine in pursuit of happiness.

We love to have lots of time.
To do the things we desire to do.

To spend it in ways most meaningful.
And we hate it when it dwindles away.

Everyone seems to know the way.
Everyone is rushing in one way or another in pursuit of happiness.

But truly who has found it?

There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12

Time has no mercy.
It never stops killing.

All of creation are subject to it.
And are dying every other day because of it.

Matter dies and regenerate new ones every other day.

Not so for God who alone transcend time.
And has never been subject to it.

The Lord who is in heaven, He does whatever he pleases. Psalm 115:3

God is not in anyway rushing for time.
Time is in submission to God.

Happiness and satisfaction stays with God throughout eternity.

Only God is able to have time at His disposal.
========================================

God the only omnipotent and yet humble in heart.

Philippians 2:6-8
who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

With time, man grew in power.
With power, evil is inevitable.

Genesis 6:5-7
The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.”

Not so with God.
Where His very nature is Love.

1 John 4:8
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

God it Spirit
==========

God is not a matter but of spirit. Deut 4:12

Spirit does not subject to the law of time.
Hence He can exist without the existence of time.

Time is a creation from God and hence is in subordination to God.

He does not suffer decay nor does He become any newer.

God does not grow old neither does He experience or learn new things.

To comprehend
=============

A frozen river and a flowing river both are subject to time.

Stillness and movement are both constrained by time.

Time is needed to comprehend a moving or still river.

Therefore to know something, time is needed to comprehend.

God is knowledge.

Comprehension is unnecessary to God; analyzing of information is unnecessary to God.

God knows all thing because He is the creator of all things - not by analysing His creation.

At the same time
==============

Divine eternity is as such that the frozen river and flowing river co-exist at the same time.

Stillness and movement co-exist at the same time.

Beginning and end co-exist at the same time.

Divine eternity enables God to be at different place at the same time.

Without subjection to time, God is able to be at different place doing whatever He pleases in the past ,present and future all at the same instant.

Eternity is both very short and very long at the same time.

Nothing is new to God
===================

God is eternal, thus nothing is new to God.

God is always seated on His great white throne with poise and serenity.

Nothing catches God off guard.

Events are unnecessary for God.
==========================

Events happened just so that His elect will know Him.

God create the entire universe with time and space so that through the events that happens, He may reveal Himself to His people.

Romans 9:22-24(NLT)
22 In the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who are destined for destruction. 23 He does this to make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on those to whom he shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for glory. 24 And we are among those whom he selected, both from the Jews and from the Gentiles.

John 9:2-3 New Living Translation (NLT)
2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” 3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.

GOD IS
======

John 8:58 ESV
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

God has the ability to control time.
========================

2 Kings 20:8-11
New Living Translation (NLT)

8 Meanwhile, Hezekiah had said to Isaiah, “What sign will the Lord give to prove that he will heal me and that I will go to the Temple of the Lord three days from now?”

9 Isaiah replied, “This is the sign from the Lord to prove that he will do as he promised. Would you like the shadow on the sundial to go forward ten steps or backward ten steps?[a]”

10 “The shadow always moves forward,” Hezekiah replied, “so that would be easy. Make it go ten steps backward instead.”11 So Isaiah the prophet asked the Lord to do this, and he caused the shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial[b] of Ahaz!

Joshua 10:13 New Living Translation (NLT)

13 So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies.

Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar[a]? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day.[b]

God does not need rest.
===================

God does not need rest.
Therefore night and day is unnecessary to God.
It is meant for His people.

He created earth for His people.
==========================

God does not dwell on earth.
The earth is God's foot stool.

Acts 7:48-50 New King James Version (NKJV)

48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:
49 ‘Heaven is My throne,And earth is My footstool.What house will you build for Me? says the Lord,
Or what is the place of My rest?50 Has My hand not made all these things?’[a]

He is not subject to time space continuum, thus He does not depend on earth for His existence.

He created the earth for His people.

The existence of thing.
==================

Matter exist when time exist.
Without time , matter would not have exist.

God create things in time.
Without time, nothing would be created.

The bond of things.
================

Every minute second, matter vibrates and sustain each other.
Holding each other together through vibration.

Take for example a piece of paper. It is subject to time.
It will grow old and thus disintegrate in due time.

Take away time and the paper will not exist.
In Order for an atom to vibrate in any direction, time is needed to vibrate.

Without the existence of time , no vibration existed.
Without vibration, no bond is formed between the atom, hence no material thing can exist.

Eternal generation of the Son.
=========================

Christ is not created.
Because He is above time.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ( John 1:1)

In the beginning God exist.
Without the existence of time.

Time is the creation of God.
Hence it is subservient to God.

Manifestation of God to His people.
=============================

When God is interacting with His people, He need to condescend Himself to the level of His people.
Therefore time is needed in this process.

Normally God would have manifest himself in forms so that His people is able to see His manifestation. Deuteronomy 5:22

For no man shall see God, and live. Exodus 33:20

There is total darkness in eternity.
===========================

Lights need time to travel.
when time is non existence, light would be none existence.

Before God create time, there is total darkness.

Genesis 1:1-5 New King James Version (NKJV)

The History of Creation

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a]on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

During creation, God command that there be light. And there is light  Genesis 1:3

When lights appears, time appears.
When time appears, morning and evening is determine.

God does not dwell in space.
========================

1 Kings 8:27 (NKJV)
27 “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You.
How much less this temple which I have built!

Matters needed space and time for its existence.

God transcend time and spaces. He is omnipresent.
Therefore earth is unnecessary to God.

He does not dwell on the earth and He does not dwell in the skies.
And yet the presence of Him is everywhere.

Isaiah 57:15 New Living Translation (NLT)

The high and lofty one who lives in eternity,the Holy One, says this:
“I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble.
I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.

He appears into space from where He dwells
===========================================

Daniel 5:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)

5 Suddenly, they saw the fingers of a human hand writing on the plaster wall of the king’s palace, near the lampstand. The king himself saw the hand as it wrote, 6 and his face turned pale with fright. His knees knocked together in fear and his legs gave way beneath him.

Before God create time space continuum, He is.

Therefore God can freely transcend time and space.

God is a spirit and it does not travel as matters do within time space continuum.

Everything moves in time space continuum.

A still object appears still before our eyes but the atoms in that object Is constantly vibrating.

To see something, light needs to travel.

God does not need light to see.
He simply see.

Freedom
========

Only God is free to do whatever He pleases in heaven.

He is never in a hurry or ever running out of time.

Everything that He does is good. He is not influence by anything external.

The eternal God has no need to change His mind. For eternity is at his disposal and is able to think to His heart content.

Because of the freedom He holds, whatever He decree will come to pass.

Doing things or alteration of things is unnecessary to God unless it is for His elect sake that His Love for them may be made known.

God sits on His eternal throne with all things accomplish. There is nothing that is left undone.

What He expect His elect to witness,  will certainly be accomplish according to His eternal decree.

What He predestined will no doubt come to pass.

Habakkuk 2:3 What God has appointed will surely take place. It will not be delayed.

Prayer
======

He could take eternity to listen to every prayers all at the same time for as long as He pleases.

And yet eternity to Him is always present.

To Him, 10 thousands years is liken to a day. To God there is no passage of time.

2 Peter 3:8
With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

And yet each prayer are personal and dear to Him.

The kingdom of God has already come but not yet for us.
===============================================

2 Peter 3:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Eternal generation of the son.
=========================

The eternity of God is essential for the generation of Christ.
For Christ is not created in time by the Father but was with the Father since eternality.

Christ is Unoriginate, for He is the Maker of Time, and is not subject to Time.

Time exist because God exist.
From Him all things were made.

God is not a thing.
===============

God is a spirit.
Before anything exist, God is.

Our conscience is not a thing.
It is created by God.

Air is something.
Because we can feel it and is able to measure the content in it.

If there is no standard of what is right, we would not have any idea of what is wrong.

God is not a thing,  therefore He is able to dwell in us.

The Holy Spirit is within us, just as the law is written in our heart.

He is among our midst and yet we can neither see nor touch him.

In my heart of hearts God is closer to me than I am to myself." ~ Augustine

2 Peter 1:3-4
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

John 14:20-21
In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

When God looks through the tunnel of time.
===================================

When God look through the tunnel of time seeing you drinking a cup of water at that stipulated time, then certainly that event will come to pass at that stipulated time.

The question is who dictates that event to come to pass?

Are we the one to dictates the events to come to pass?
If it is so, then we are sovereign over God.

If we are not the one to dictate that event to happen, then could it be time?

Can time dictates the events that is coming to pass?
If it is so, then time is sovereign over God.
Time is supreme. And God has to submit to time.

Does God has to submit to the inevitable?
Does God has to submit to the sovereignty of fate?

Is God helpless when he sees us falling and has no power to stop it because fate is determined to be sovereign over God?

If time, human and fate are not sovereign over He who created them, then they cannot dictate the event that is coming to pass, surely it must be God who is determining what he see.

God did not know by looking through the tunnel of time. God knows since eternally.

Looking through the tunnel of time is unnecessary for God. God IS.

Neither is there beginning nor ending for God's knowing. God IS.

We need to submit to the law of time. But God doesn't.

Because time is created by God. Time has to submit to God.

He is the alpha and the omega. He don't have to start. He don't have to end.

John 8:58 New King James Version (NKJV)

58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.

With God there are no contingencies. The mighty charioteer of Providence has gathered up all the reins of all the horses, and He guides them all according to His infallible wisdom. There is a foreknowledge and predestination which concerneth all things, from the motion of a grain of dust on the threshing-floor to that of the flaming comet which blazes athwart the sky. Nothing can happen but what God ordains; and therefore, why should we fear?
~Charles Spurgeon

Westminster Confession of Faith

“God from all eternity, did, by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely, and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass; yet so, as thereby neither is God the author of sin, nor is violence offered to the will of the creatures; nor is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established.

Although God knows whatsoever may or can come to pass upon all supposed conditions; yet has He not decreed anything because He foresaw it as future, or as that which would come to pass upon such conditions. By the decree of God, for the manifestation of His glory, some men and angels are predestined unto everlasting life; and others foreordained to everlasting death.”

No Sin in heaven.
==============

Eternity is forever.
Therefore there must not be chaos in eternity.

Sin is non existence in eternity.
Therefore sorrow will be non existence in eternity.

There will be no decay in eternity.
Therefore there will not be death in eternity.

Eternity is meant to be forever.
And it belongs to God.

Good is meant to last forever.
Evil cannot be in the existence of good.

Eternity is where all things begin.
Eternity is where all things come to fruition.

One day in eternity is enough to satisfies what we relentlessly strive for throughout our stay on earth.

Adam and eve did not cause the fall. but the present of Sin that causes it.

If Adam did not fall then some others will fall because of the presence of Sin.

Since Adam is the first to experience Sin. Adam will be the first to fall.

Romans 7:17-20
But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

Christ is the reason
================

In eternity, God already has the end in view.
In eternity, the future went ahead of the past.

The glorification of Christ is the reason where all things happens.

Without Christ, there is no reason for a beginning.

Without the new Testament, there will not be a reason for the Old Testament.

Eternity has to make sense.
======================

To live and then to die, does not make sense for the end is still death.
To have experience love for a thousand years and then to die is a great tragedy.

Love in its origin is pure and perfect.
Love cannot be tainted.

Therefore love never dies.
Love is self sustaining.

Because in and of itself, love is.

God's love is pure, hences it cannot end.
Because His love is perfect, it must take eternality for God's people to experience His love.

The love of God will thus endures forever.
For only perfect love can last through eternity.

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.

For eternity to make sense, there must not have sorrow in eternity.

In order to live eternally, there must always be joy unspeakable, there must always be worship, the heart of which that makes up eternity.

Creation is eternal.
The vast universe is eternal.

There is no end in it expansion.
It takes an eternal being to create an infinite universe.

Hell is eternal
============

If heaven is eternal, then hell must be eternal.
Nothing can be hidden from God.

The soul which is damn cannot hide from God's present.

If the soul turn into dust, God is there.
If the soul turn into the stars, God is there.

Psalm 139:7-8
New King James Version

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
For there is nothing in which God is not sovereign over.

Therefore if God is eternal, the damnation of soul will also be eternal.

~Time and beyond time by C.S Lewis

But God, I believe, does not live in a Time-series at all. His life is not dribbled out moment by moment like ours: with Him it is, so to speak, still 1920 and already 1960. For his life is Himself.

If you picture Time as a straight line along which we have to travel, then you must picture as the whole page on which the line is drawn. We come to the parts of the line one by one: we have to leave A behind before we get to B, and cannot reach C until we leave B behind. God, from above or outside or all around, contains the whole line, and sees it all.

But suppose God is outside and above the Time-line. In that case, what we call "tomorrow" is visible to Him in just the same way as what we call "today". All the days are "Now" for Him. He does not remember you doing things yesterday; He simply sees you doing them, because, though you have lost yesterday, He has not. He does not "foresee" you doing things tomorrow; He simply sees you doing them: because, though tomorrow is not yet there for you, it is for Him. You never supposed that your actions at this moment were any less free because God knows what you are doing. Well, He knows your tomorrow's actions in just the same way -- because He is already in tomorrow and can simply watch you.

~C.S Lewis

Oh Lord help me redeem my time!

Ephesians 5:15-16
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

On the cross
===========

Eternity is that 3 hours on the cross.
No body understand eternity as God would understand.

Eternity is an understatement in that 3 hour one Friday..

I hate Sin.
Sin is pride.
Pride separates love

Time is a precious thing.
But we squandered it away as if it is free.

We are unworthy to have time.
It is by grace that we have time to spare.

Only God is worthy to have time hence eternity at His disposal.
